As the 2 year anniversary of her passing approaches, award winning rider Evelyn Hohn is not forgotten. Roger Thursby has commissioned a lovely memorial montage portrait of some of Evelyn's high points in her career as a testament to the great Barrel Racer, friend, fiancée, and partner she was. Evelyn is seen in the portrait riding Strollin Legend, owned by Roger, and her favorite horse Mysganzer. As per Evelyn's wishes, Mergy is back home in Palmyra, Illinois. Evelyn is missed.
Evelyn Hohn Memorial Dedication Held
On Sunday, October 18, 2009, a memorial was dedicated in honor of Evelyn Hohn. Her family in Palmyra IL. with whom she spent approximately the last five years of her life, planted a Royal Empress Tree and erected a marble monument in her memory. A picture of Evelyn was etched onto a black marble tile, which was inlayed into a larger gray and white marble monument. The picture is of Evelyn turning a barrel at the Badlands Circuit Finals held in Deadwood SD. on November 4-6, 2005. She was riding a horse named Strollin Legend.
A small ceremony was held at 2 pm that afternoon on a hillside near Evelyn and Roger's residence just outside the Triple T Arena that she managed. Evelyn spent countless hours there doing what she loved. When she wasn't attending rodeos, her time at the Triple T Arena was spent riding horses, raising horses, and teaching Montana Thursby and others the ins and outs of barrel racing. Her family felt this memorial was fitting for someone who had made such a great impact on their lives. Each time someone passes by that hillside they will be reminded of how much Evelyn is loved and missed.
Those in attendance, and excluded from the original obituary, were Evelyn's fiancé, Roger Thursby, his daughter Montana, His son, Tommy, his daughter and son-in-law, Tasha and Jed Lancaster and their infant son, Dean Charles, Roger's brother Raymond, his father Howard, and numerous others with whom Evelyn had been close.
Attendees each placed a long stemmed red rose upon or near her monument to symbolize how much she had touched their lives in a special way. Like the marble stone and marble inlay which will last forever, so will the memories that they have of Evelyn.

Prior to the dedication of this touching stone for Evelyn, a memorial service was held to honor her life.
